Raymond H. Gouin

I was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1978. I strive to help achieve the best possible results for my clients. I provide solutions in real estate, wills and estates, corporate and commercial law with pragmatic and sound advice. I also provide litigation services which constitute a beneficial complement to my clients as my insight in the litigation reality permits my clients to often avoid the costly experience of being involved in court cases. My clients better understand the creative, effective and valuable solutions as I know what is involved in litigation. Issues will often be resolved before they degenerate into dangerous and very costly litigious situations. I know what it takes to enhance and protect the interests of my clients, and I am dedicated to their success.

As a Deputy Judge of the Superior Court of Justice (Small Claims Court), I am often faced with intricate issues and I have thereby refined the art of problem solving.

I have completed training in mediation techniques through the University of Windsor.

I have also earned a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from the University of Ottawa while still practising law. I earned this Bachelor’s degree in 2008 with a Magna Cum Laude distinction.

I was an instructor at the Bar Admission course from 1988 to 2008. I have also had the privilege of reviewing Law Society teaching materials, in both official languages. I continue offering tutoring to students who prepare for the bar exams.

I am a member of the Association des juristes d’expression Française de l’Ontario.

I was a member of a local Hospital Foundation for over nine years. I am currently involved with OK Clean Water Project, a foundation dedicated to raising funds to help certain regions of Cameroon have clean water.

In 2008, I published Justice sans appel à Eastview, a fiction novel displaying some philosophical questions against a 1965 historical eastern Ontario backdrop incorporating sex, blood and sports.

Away from the office, I play Rock and Roll with other musicians, I write (I am working on my second novel), and I enjoy cottage life. Hockey in general, and the Montreal Canadiens in particular, are in my blood!
